This fly was photographed on 30 May this year in Yegen, Granada, Spain near a small stream.

I think it is Muscidae, not Anthomyiidae, based on the anal vein. I see bristles on the hind tibia but have been led down the wrong path by these before.

How far is it possible go with an ID please? I only managed the one shot so no other angles if I have missed something ital

Thanks.

Hello,

I think, Anthomyiidae, because of the red face (never occurs in Muscidae to my knowledgs).

P.S.: Wrong suibforum.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Many thanks.

Simon

PS I did not deliberately choose any sub forum, so don't know how that happened. Is there any way to change it (it seems to have happened on another thread as well)?

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
