Hi,
I am trying to nail down the identification of Sciaridae flies that live in my house (Lausanne, Switzerland) without much success so far. Any help appreciated. Also if you have good identification references for this family, I am very much interested.
All the best,
Christian

The female is Bradysia impatiens
The male appears to belong to the Scatopsciara genus, possibly S. pusilla. Who would have an image of the hypopygium of S. pusilla?

Frank Menzel was kind enough to take a look at the male. He identified it as Scatopsciara calamophila. To answer Svavar, the keys that would allow specific identification of S. calamophila that I found are in Tuomikoski 1960 (Zur Kenntnis der Sciariden (Dipt.) Finnlands. - Ann . Zool. Soc. "Vanamo" . - Helsinki , 21 (4): 1 - 164) and in Frey 1942 (Entwurf einer neuen Klassifikation der Mückenfamilie Sciaridae (Lycoriidae). - Notul. Ent. - Helsingfors [Helsinki], 22: 5-44). Note that Frey says that y = 1/3 x for S. calamophila, which is disputed by Tuomikoski who notes that y = x in this species and which is also what I found in my specimen (see image below).
