Could you help me identifying the fly in the middle of the image (link below)? I already asked help in two Facebook groups. In their opinion, it is a male Chrysops (based on the eyes and the wing coloration). They also suggested that here I may get further (species level) identification, that is why I wrote this post.
Unfortunately, this is the best image I took (when I stepped closer, the specimen flew away).

I would say Chrysops sepulcralis.
