This bee fly was found on August 2nd on the Greek island of Samos. The fly was spotted close to a water stream. Is this a species of Villa or something completely different? Any help with the identification is highly appreciated.

Hi Chris, I don't think it's a Villa - looks more like a Geron sp. but it's difficult to identify without wing venation and beak.
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner

I think this is Anthracinae, but does not look good for Villa. Wing venation would be very important to see.

Thank you both! Unfortunately, I don't have any other pictures to help with the identification.
