Hello,

I photographed this fly in Campo Imperatore (AQ), Italy, 1400m a.s.l. on August 12th 2021. I think it is an Heleomyzidae, but is it possible to identify its genus or species from these photos?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Looks very much like the Gymnomus caesius which I photographed [too many years ago] and stuck in the Gallery...

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
