Hi, I took a few pictures of a comparatively huge fly on a leaf close to our garden hedge. I would speculate that it could be Phaonia valida. The reddish scutellum seems a bit unusual for that species, but maybe that is within the variation range? Is it possible to confirm or reject that speculation based on the picture below?
