 Hi,

I took a few pictures of a comparatively huge fly on a leaf close to our garden hedge.

I would speculate that it could be Phaonia valida. The reddish scutellum seems a bit unusual for that species, but maybe that is within the variation range? Is it possible to confirm or reject that speculation based on the picture below?

Germany, Southern Bavaria, Munich (-West), 09.10.2021, app. 12 mm
