The fly sized about 13 mm, I first saw her resting on a stone, then she flew off and stalked on an Adelpha leaf for some time. Overcast and rather chilly, found on a riverbank at sea level Corujo-Vigo (Pontevedra) Spain 6th december 2007.-

Pollenia (Calliphoridae) - note the wavy golden hairs on the sides of the thorax.

G maculata has hairy eyes, and anyway those fine wavy golden hairs are diagnostic for Pollenia.
