Hi,

Further to my previous post - I *think* that this is a male and female of Lordiphosa fenestrarum. Am I right about the male? Is there a character that I should be able to see in a photo like this?

Thanks!

1st photo: Yes, a pair of L. fenestrarum.
2nd: At least the third fly is L. andalusiaca. I think that the two upper specimens are L. andalusiaca as well (with surstyli more closed together) but it would need some study to be sure.

Thank you so much! I think I'm getting there ....

The females have laid eggs, so if they get as far as adults I'll have some that I'm confident of!

Once I reared Lordiphosa from rotting cabbage with Plasmodiophora. If your rearing will be successful, please keep empty puparia (including their lids). Note that preimaginal stages of Lordiphosa have not been described as yet.
