Germany, Baden-Württemberg, district Karlsruhe, Karlsbad-Spielberg, in a garden on the leaf of a fruit tree, ca. 6 - 8 mm, found date 01.07.2021, Gerold Franke, can the hoverfly species be determined? thanks

Hi Gerold, yes it can: Epistrophe eligans (one of the very few I'm able to determine).
Green, white stripe in the middle, dorsally flattened, the posterior spiracle distinctly longer than wide, on trees and shrubs.
