Hi,
Four days ago I saw several of these yellow Tachinids that I suppose to belong to Solieria. But is it the common S. pacifica? The claws of the fore tarsi look rather long compared to the last tarsal segment. I have no experience with the other species that occur in Germany, so I am depending on help in identification. The location was southwestern Germany, 50 km west of Stuttgart.
Thanks, Sundew

Good morning Sundew, this could be a female S. vacua (which I did not find yet but according to T&H should appear in BW). The palps a yellow with a very small brown tip - frons bigger than eye.

I agree, except it seems to be male to me.

male pacifica and vacua have proclinate orbitals present: confusing !
So always check genitalia ( or long pulvilli in the case of vacua)

So I was right to have doubts about S. pacifica! A new Solieria species for me. BW is full of surprises. Thanks to both of you!
