Hello,

I photographed this fly in Bazzano (AQ), Italy on May 10th 2021. I think it is a Simuliidae, but is it possible to identify its genus or species just from this photo?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Male Simulium. The white spots on the abdomen and the absence of hairs on the basal part of vein R are useful for ID within the genus but not sufficient to place it to species.
