Hello everyone,

this Tipula was found on 14.05.2021 in lower saxony near the Steinhuder Meer (a lot of bogs).
It was sitting on forest edge. Could it be Tipula fascipennis?
Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Alex

Hi Alex, I'm sure it's Tipula (Lunatipula) lunata.

Thanks Eric!
Could you please explain what is the main ID criterion for T. lunata? Is it just the extension of the white wing mark, which should be longer in T. fascipennis?
Thanks for your help.

Best,
Alex
