Please may I request an ID for this pupae?

Is it Chironomidae?

Just to Family level would be great.

Thank you!

I think Psychodidae, but it would help to know what size it is, and what habitat it was found in.

I'm pretty sure that this is Ceratopogonidae, close to Dasyhelea, due to the long spiracles. However, I'm not familiar with Spanish species, so genus level is not sure.

Thank you both. Unfortunately, I do not know which region of Spain or habitat it was taken from. It was sent to me. I'm not accustomed to looking at European taxa (only UK). Ceratopogonidae looks promising. (It is ~2 mm).

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
