7mm Coastal Sand dunes in Merthyr Mawr Warren, South Wales, UK 26.4.21
Could this fly be Delia albula, a fly of coastal sand dunes white larvae feed on Dune brittlestem fungi? Several were around, mostly males and one female egg-laying I think.. The fly is recorded from this national nature Reserve just east of Porthcawl: https://species.nbnatlas.org/species/NBNSYS0000030529

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
