Yesterday evening this Sphaerocerid fly made a beauty stop on my wall in Minas de Riotinto. The third leg made me think of Sphaerocera curvipes, but of course without certainty. Is this attempt to ID in the right direction? Thanks! André Andre Burgers attached the following image: ![]() [236.91Kb] errare humanum est sed perseverare diabolicum |

I think your fly is one of the Copromyzinae - vein Cua1 does not reach the wing margin. Unfortunately I could not find a resembling one yet. Lotophila atra is a bit similar, but has dark legs... Greetings, EricK |

Hi Erick! Yes, the legs are the "problem". The only species I found with these legs was S. curvipes, but I didn't consider other characteristics. ![]() And no, it isn't very atra. Thanks! ![]() Edited by Andre Burgers on 02-09-2025 13:20 errare humanum est sed perseverare diabolicum |
