 Oryctes : France : Villeneuve-d'Ascq : 59650 : 09/05/2025 Altitude : 44 m - Taille : estimation : 7 mm Réf. : 358539 Hello, I found this Chaoboridae in Villeneuve d'Ascq (Nord, France) near a large pond. It was on May 9, 2025. The fringed appearance of the wingtips and the little genitalia that can be seen may suggest the species Chaoborus obscuripes. What is your opinion on this ? If you have a male specimen (like the one you photographed), then I would advise carefully dissecting out the penis valve (hidden within the hypopygium at the base of the gonocoxites).
