Hyadina, but not scutellata, which has an entirely matt black scutellum, but it's very dark-legged for any of the British species, so a dark Scottish morph of 'humeralis' (we're not quite sure what British 'humeralis' is) or perhaps a species new to Britain or perhaps brand new. (We need a body!)

Thanks Cranefly and Tony for running an eye over this fly. What's with the "Scottish" Tony? ![]() ![]() Well looks like I'm going to have to murder a few more flies in the cause of science again. Looked on the web for images of H.humeralis and came up with one from the man with the lucky hat.. ![]() ![]() ![]() Regards Roger |
