A book with identification keys to the European families of the Diptera has appeared, see http://www.knnvui...ductID=167. It is published by the KNNV publishers (Dutch and English), where it can be ordered (though not listed on the English pages because the book is in Dutch).

www.knnvuitgeverij.nl/www2/images/omslagen/nb073.jpg

The book contains identification keys to virtually all families of European Diptera and is written in Dutch by P. Oosterbroek, H. de Jong and L. Sijstermans. An English translation is in preparation.

My copy should arrive in a few days. Time to brush up my nonexistent skills in the dutch languageGrin
If the dutch version sold at least 6 copies in Finland, I suspect that and english translation might do better. A lot betterPfft

Too difficult for me: Diptera key - one forien language, Dutch - another oneWink. I'd rather wait for English edition.
By the way. In few weeks I'll make CD copy of both two volume of Diptera of European part of Russia and three volume of Diptera of Far East.
Once Kahis wrote that even without Russian language knowing it is usefull because of numerous illustrations inside.
If somebody need this copy let me know on what adress send it.

maybe i agree nikita about helpful images, but i would say that about this book; i bought it a little "hopeless" but now i see it?s not as difficult to use as i supposed, and a very good help;
i don?t regret i didn?t wait for the english version at all

try!Smile
