Hi Rui,

This has to be a Machimus sp. Do you have a lateral picture too? Also location can be helpful.

I am still working on a lot of Iberian Machimus which are not in the Carles Tolra/Anderson.

And, just to let you know, i have not forgotten about you : ) I will get back to you as soon as i have stopped struggling with several issues concerning Iberian Asilids.
Greetings,

Reinoud

Hi Reinoud Smile

The photo is not mine, but from a friend who was curious about the fly. I asked for a lateral picture but unfortunately this is the only one available. It was photographed in Lagos (Algarve).
And thank you very much for all of your fantastic work on the Iberian Asilids. Smile

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
