I think this is an Anthomyiidae species.
It would be nice to know if that's right.
Without a specimen, most species can't be identified from photos, but this one has many similarities to some Zaphne species.
Size about 5 mm. Found in a sandy coastal area, in the UK.
Is it possible to say anything definite about this one?
Thanks.
Nigel

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
