Hello,

I photographed this fly near Lago delle Marmotte (TN), Italy, 2600m a.s.l. on August 5th 2020. I think it is a Syrphidae (maybe genus Eupeodes?), but is it possible to identify it just from this photo?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Hi Emanule, I think it's a female Eupeodes luniger - but the rarer species bucculatus and goeldlini cannot be excluded from the photo.

Greetings, Eric
