Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Bibio pomonae/rufipes

This fly is probably Bibio pomonae or Bibio rufipes. I find it hard to estimate if the spur on the front tibia is longer or shorter than half the length of the spike. I think it looks like the spur is longer than half of the spike, then it should be B. rufipes but that species have brownish wings which my fly doesn't have (I think). Which species could it be? The fly was collected the 15 of August in eastern Sweden.

There is onlly one species with red femora and dark tibiae: pomonae.

My bad, the key said that rufipes had red legs and I assumed they meant red femora (and dark tibae). Thank you.
