Hello,

I photographed this fly in Bazzano (AQ), Italy, on June 7th 2019. I think it is an Asilidae, but is it possible to tell the genus or species from these photos?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Maybe genus Tolmerus?

It might well be.... Is that a bristle I see on the ventral side of the fore femur? If so, it could also be Neoepitriptus.

Thank you Reinoud. I tried to crop the image and there seems to be at least one bristle on the ventral side of the femur.

Thank you Reinoud. Next time I will try to take better photos from different angles.

The pictures are pretty good but Machimus/Tolmerus/Neoepitriptus are rather difficult to ID because of small detaills.
