Thread subject: Diptera.info :: black-red fly in old nature reserve with many rare species

Hi,

found on 04-July-2020 in a nature reserve, dry grassland/calcareous, Germany, Rhineland Palatinate, "Hoellberg" near Bad Kreuznach

It was "dancing" and flapping its wings like I sometimes see with Sepsis, but approximately 1cm, thus much bigger than Sepsis sp. presumably on which its behaviour reminded me.
Can it be further identified?
Many thanks and regards,
Stella
