I've taken some (more) interest in flies recently. For ID's and ID-help I'm mainly active on (the forum of) waarneming.nl (where ObsId helps you to get started on ID's) but the more difficult ones I'll be posting here. This is my first post here.
I was wondering if this one is
Hebecnema nigricolor. It was found at an outside wall of my house in a small town in The Netherlands quite near a forest on the 23th of November 2019. Size is circa 5.0 mm.
Regards,
Henk ten Holt

Hello casebearer,
it is not nigricolor (none of the femora are yellowish). Notice the darkened knob of the haltere. H. nigra is a better match.
Best wishes,
John

Hello John,
I see, you're right. The darkened knob of the haltere is quite visible as well.
Thanks a lot for ID-ing,
Best wishes,
Henk
