This one keys out to Phaonia but it would be nice to get some expert confirmation. Found in a suburban arboretum/garden in Maryland. Body length ~6mm

Phaonia is correct, key for NA Phaonia on your e-mail...

Many thanks for the help and the papers! The next time I find one of these I'll get better photos and try to take the ID further. However, I'll keep in mind what you previously wrote about the North American species being badly in need of revision.
