Found at Las Piedras Amazon Center in Madre de Dios region in southeastern Peru on 5.IX.2019. Male Lampria?

Yes -- seems to have the Laphria/ Lampria m.p. Other features (face, antennae) indicate this is probably a Joartigasia sp. (very elaborate male genitalia would confirm this, which we get a hint of...).

Overall similarity to Andrenosomatini genera (which share the fallen-tree microhabitat with this genus) is striking. These flies are uncommon (not recorded from Tambopata area before) -- especially compared to abundant taxa of Andrenosomatini found in neotropical forests.

Thanks much for the info Eric. I saw a few of this species, but they were all just a little too wary for me to get a good lateral shot. I'll see if I have any other shots that might help.
