This specimen was collected in the sierra Nevada this past summer. It is about 1.46mm in length.

Similar wings have developed convergently in Chironomidae (e.g.
Corynoneura and Ceratopogonidae (
Leptoconops).

The head appears to be different than any of the Chironomid I have identified thus far (mostly Orthocladiinae and Chironominae)

I'd say from the wing that it is
Leptoconops (or very similar)
