Berlin - August 2019

Hello everyone,

I found this sitting on my balcony door. I don't see a Chironomid like posture so i am not sure what it is. I am only guessing Sciaridae/ I don't know much about even Chironomidae, so i cannot place it. Any help is greatly appreciated. I got as close as i could get and the photo is cropped from the original. This is as big as it gets with my 1:1 macro (no crop sensor).

Thank you,
John

Ceratopogonidae. Again a family where I am anable to go further. However, maybe some colleagues could be able to present generic determination.

Thank you, Jan. I'm happy that you could recognize it so quickly. I know nothing about Ceratopogonidae. I found the small black biting ones in my kitchen. I cannot remember genus name but i only made photos. I guess that i need to read about this family. I think that this is a very pretty species. Very interesting too.

Maybe someone can say more. I'm happy to place it into a family.

Jan, you are always helpful and i appreciate you :)

Best wishes,
John

So i looked at this family a bit and i think that it could be Dasyhelea but i'd need confirmation.

I will try to find some documentation about this family and Dasyhelea genus.

Thanks again, Jan.

Best wishes,
John
