Would this be another Eristalis and if so, which one?
To my VERY inexpert eyes, it seems not dissimilar to

This looks an Eristalis interrupta female to me (also known as E. nemorum). A better view on the face and/or stigma could help to make a 100 percent identification..

I have this photo, but it isn't of the same individual and I'm not absolutely sure it was the same species :(.

I am sorry sarah, but the second one is another species... it's Eristalis tenax. For one thing, look at the hairs on the eyes: in the first picture you see the hairs equally dispersed over the eyes, in the second you can see the 'darker' vertical area over the eye, caused by hairs growing more 'bundled' on that part of the eye. Very characteristic for tenax (though sometimes a little difficult to recognize).
