Improbable maybe, but not impossible. I found several examples of Diptera miners on (fruit)tree-leafs on the incredible site www.bladmineerders.nl. Phytomyza heringiana is one of them, found on (a.o.) Malus sp.

The form of this mine fits Apple Leaf Miner, Lyonetia clerkella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae), quite well.


I agree, but when I look at the pictures J?rgen refers to, I'm not sure. I haven't seen such peculiar weblike structures on the leafs of my appletree!

I'm still a bit in the dark here.... Help me?!:|
