Hi


A friend of mine: Anthony Gould took this photo on 15th August 2007 in Arizona. This is, I think, a Poecilognathus sp. It was feeding on desert marigold. Perhaps P. unimaculatus (but we must see dorsal view to be sure).

This photo was granted by him. I think this is the best photo available on the net with this detail.

This beautiful bombyliid is confirmed as a female of Poecilognathus unimaculatus.

hello, here it is another lovely one, from Argentina, unfortunately the Evenhuys' book (revision of Usiinae and Phthiriinae) hasnīt got species keys
