This black robberfly flew at ca 1400 m altitude near Malvaglia, Tessin (Switzerland). I saw it sitting on a wooden wip (correct word?). The surroundings are mountain meadows, extremely folwery, just about to be mowed.

It is a medium sized robberfly, say 15mm. All black, except for the white beard. I've seen only this specimen.

and here with a bee as prey.

The question, as so often, is of course: can it be IDed?

It's a male of Andrenosoma atrum. Please add your images to Wikipedia: http://commons.wi...y:Asilidae - Thanks
