Hi,

photographed this conopid on Origanum vulgare. size was aprox ~11 mm.
Baile Herculane (one week ago), ~600m, Fagus forest, limestone.

is this Physocephala rufipes ?

me again with this.
i have checked http://home.hccnet.nl/mp.van.veen/conopidae/physocephala.html

only reference i was able to find.

after that and looking to all series of photo is the species from the subject. (this observation made from the photo i have) no silver on side of the thorax (so no Physocephala chrysorrhoea). remain 2 species P. rufipes Fabricius & P. nigra DeGeer . i'm not very sure where to from here. even if 2 characters from that key (colours of the legs and antenne) go to rufipes. i say this because if i'm looking at the second photo from the post i think i see that black line from face splited (but i'm not really sure if that is what i have to see :)
)

so maybe some more opinion? that are more adviced than mine

i have not succesed to collect that so...

Hi cosmln,
It's rufipes allright! The part of the face that the key talks about, is not visible on the pictures. I know what you mean with the black splitting, but these are two little blak stripes aside of the antennal implant. The part that is meant is the part under the antenna, but like I said it's not visible. The black antenna states it is P. rufipes!
