We can share the bucket of cold water, Steve :D The reason I posted pictures from a friend even if they don't show all the characters necessary for ID is precisely because there might be something really good hidden here ;). I told my friend so. I got the Spanish keys by Portillo and they took me directly to Hybomitra zaballosi. I was astonished. But my knowledge of Tabanidae is worse than extremely limited. I did need the opinion of Theo and the other experts :) Only the abdomen doesn't convince me. But no proper pictures of the abdomen were taken :( Don't blame my friend though ;) He was about to be bitten :D And he didn't know he was about to be bitten by one of the finest Tabanids (if it is confirmed) in Spain :D :D :D :D

I have to apologize for not saying my thoughts at once. But I didn't want to condition your minds ;)

So, thanks a lot, Steve ;) Let's wait for Theo and Libor and see what they have to say about this cutie.
