Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Sciaridae?

Hello!

These very tiny (about 2 mm) midges are numerous at the moment here (Ostwestfalen/Germany). Very difficult to photograph, because they are moving permanently. Do they belong to the Sciaridae? Thanks!

Yes, Sciaridae. The wing venation is very special in this family and is hardly similar to any other family except maybe Bibionidae, but in the letter case the body is very different.

Thanks for confirmation! Up to now these tiny midges were too small for me to have a look at the wing venation on my photos... ;-)
