EDIT: was "Egg for ID"

Anterior end of an egg, with larva inside, that was in my banana-bait trap. There were Muscid and Calliphorid adults in the trap.
Is it possible to determine family? Also, are the 'protruding tubes' tracheae?

Yes, there were fruit flies in the cage as well as the others. But the egg is 3.5 mm long; too big for Drosophila?

Then it might well be a fresh pupa!

Wow, did I ever get that wrong. I saw maggots and assumed they were 1st instar blow flies; these I thought were eggs.
