Strongly support this (but it is a lot to work on and involves repetition See Weblinks etc.). For my part I am working (with many others) on the Wikipedia pages to provide the lists you suggest and other information-see

These pages are copyright free and can be used by anyone or on any other site without restriction (GNU free licence) . Since the English language sites are international and eventually appear in simplified form in many languages the id lterature listed is for World Fauna.As the sites are expertised I link through to them via the vernacular names in the Diptera.info Glossary.
