Hello to all!
Is there anything to mix this lovely fly up with? It was on top of a mountain as high as 2289m, so there were no deers close, only chamoises perhaps.
Size approx. 15mm

11.7.2010, Austria, Salzburg, Tennengebirge, Mt. Scheiblingkogel

If there was ever a fly that would appeal to the public - this must be it!! I really want one for Christmas!;)
And I'd agree that this is stimulator. The host is Capreolus - Roe Deer. It has been recorded at over 2200 meters, and this one may be "hill-topping" - so higher than its hosts.

WOW! Certainly a beast.
May you show the photo of the place where you found this one^? Thanks.

Thank you both!
Here's a picture of the place where I found it. It was the pile of stones in the front part of the pic.

Yes, and although exhausting, I can very well understand the flies and butterflies who love to do this, too. :D
