Pitfall traps can also be very usefull to collect flies. For example several species of the genus Geomyza (Opomyzidae) which are hardly collected at all with flight interception and malaise traps are easily collected with pitfall traps. Geomyza apicalis is a good example.

Also light traps, often used by lepidopterists, attract a lot of flies.
