This fly appeared in banana traps (S24º W 54º) in November 2006 in great quantities, but since this date I did not see any using the same traps and in same and similar localities.
The pic shows a larva just emerged from the females abdomen.

I'd like to see a closer/bigger image of it but at first glance it looks like one of the Mesembrinellinae (Callaphoridae). They are interesting to me because they masquerade very well as tachinids due to them having a very well developed subscutellum :D

I haven't had a lot of success with the available keys but I am keen to have more specimens and to work out the identifications eventually :)
