Hi

My friend Farhan Bokhari has came back to the home from Stirling Ranges in southwest western australia and he granted me to use photos here in DI and even including them in diptera.info gallery! So more one family for this great forum.

This is an apiocerid with 15 mm size... Apiocera sp. with over 100 species :|

Photo was taken last week.

I have just received an email from Torsten, expert in Apioceridae: "Unfortunately I can't provide you with a name. There is a key to Apiocera from Australia from the 1950s, but I haven't studied enough species to feel confident to use images for the identification. There are currently some 67 Australian species described and probably many more are awaiting description." Apiocera genus has many species in Australia... just some are really possible to ID by photos.

However, I got the authorization from Farhan Bokhari to submit him photos for DI.
