Axymyiidae larvae live inside wet decaying wood in short tunnels. The end of breathing tube is always outside. Besides they have 2-4 anal papillae. In spite of this the larva is mobile and can move and retract breathing tube quickly.

Have You seen Siberian tigers also? Anyway, this larva is one of the most interesting insect larvae! Would be nice to have it in the gallery!

I think we can put it in the gallery as Protaxymyia melanoptera Mamaev & Krivosheina, 1966. I have checked - no other species were described in this genus after its description.
