Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachinid, second chance

A week ago I saw A Tachinid in Amstelveen, see http://diptera.in...d_id=21864.

Today I got a second chance - well, at least I think it's the same species. Same long hairs on eyes, and very trunk-loving. Not just sun basking, but having the tree trunk as a perch.

I hope these photo's suffice..

Medium sized, say 8 - 9 mm. Small lawn bordered by houses and trees.

Yes, it seems you are right.
This helps: it is a Linnaemyia, most likely tessellans.
You can see the long appendix to vein M.

Now we know what we are looking for, we could have seen it in the first picture from last week as well. But i missed it.
