I don't suppose there is any hope, but posting anyway.

Male, 6.5mm, from 21 May 2008, swept from grass in a field grazed by cattle, lowland (<100masl) central France.

No hope. There are dozens of greenish males like this. Besides the male and the female is unlikely to be the same species.

OK, thanks Gabor. This time I really am going to give up for good with Chironomids :)
