Is this some sort of tiny Empididae sp? Female, 4mm, on flowering Myrrhis odorata Sweet Cicely, at Preston Montford Field Studies Centre, near Shrewsbury, north west England, 16 May 2006. The hind femora seem distinctive, but I can't find anything that matches.

Likewise, the wing venation seems distinctive, but I can't find anything that matches closely enough.

LoL, no, there we go again: R4 is runs almost straight to the wing margin.

A small species of Empis. Based on these images I will not hazard a guess. It is a female though, as can be seen from the rather pointed tip of teh abdomen and pennation on the legs.
