Only A. flavicollis match among the Finnish species.

It's a rather uncommon species even in Malaise traps and nearly impossible to find by sweep-netting. This is the 11th record of the species in Finland: the first specimen was taken in 1956, one in 1979 and the rest are post-2000 records of 1-4 specimens. Our other yellow Achalcus (vaillanti and nigropunctatus) are much more numerous, if equally difficult to find without Malaise traps.

Well thank You. This summers end seems to be very good. Several good species in one week :D

Dear Jari,

I am pretty sure that this is the male of Achalcus flavicollis as dr Grichanov suggested. It comes close to A. vaillanti, but the latter has the antennae largely pale and the abdomen less dark. But the most convincing difference are the long cerci in A. flavicollis, that are not so easily detected in the picture (but more easily examined by you on the specimen, I hope).

Cheers,
Marc
