Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Which Eristalis?

Hello!

Can this female from yesterday (northwest Germany) be Eristalis lineata? It was larger than E. arbustorum or interrupta (also flying yesterday), more in the E. tenax "league" (not quite as big as tenax itself).

Thanks! Then it was the biggest arbustorum I've ever seen.

Nope, not arbustorum but indeed a female Eristalis lineata!
It has a vague blackish spot in the wing and the yellow marks on the abdomen are not shiny.
In the wild it generally has a more 'orange' appearance!

Thanks! I don't see that species very often here, and this animal really looked different from most other Eristalis I find.
