Thread subject: Diptera.info :: River chironomid

These hydra-like things are made of sand and have a larva in the stem. From looking in picture books, I think they are the chironomid Rheotanytarsus sp. Can anyone say for sure, please? They are from the edge of the River Ogwen, near Bangor, North Wales, 24 May 2008.
