I can't see yellow halteres and the frons looks too silvery for barbifrons. Personally, I'd say it looks more like Phasia pusilla :)

Thanks Chris! I think you are correct.

When I compare it to some of my previously confirmed barbifrons-images the abdomen also seems lighter and not as shiny-black.

Dusting on the abdomen is quite variable, in my experience. Dusting on the thorax would suggest Phasia obesa but with undusted thorax, dark haltares and a silvery face with no hairs between the frontal row and the eyes would mean it can only be Phasia pusilla :)
